Puppy Chow! No really, homemade dog food recipe

All dogs are different (obviously…) and may tolerate certain foods differently. This recipe I made for my chihuahua mix is based off of the recommendations found on this site for homemade food recipes for adult chihuahuas:

60% of protein from lean turkey, lean beef, chicken, a little chicken fat is good, fish (mackerel or herring but no more than twice a week) organ meats, lamb, eggs in moderation,

40% vegetables carrots, green beans, broccoli, peas, spinach, pumpkin, celery, cauliflower, cucumbers (broccoli and cauliflower may cause gas) Pumpkin is excellent for diarrhea and soothing the tummy.

10% carbohydrates white rice, brown rice, potatoes  (must be cooked), oatmeal.

I give my dog half the daily recommended portion because she still eats half of her regular dry food.

2 cooked chicken breasts
1 cooked unseasoned beef patty
2 cooked sweet potatoes
1 cup edamame or peas
2 medium sized carrots
1 can unsalted tuna in water
1/2 of a medium sized zucchini squash
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 cup water (plus more as needed)

Chop first three ingredients into bite sized portions and set aside in a large mixing bowl. Blend remaining ingredients in a high powered blender or food processor until smooth. Pour/scrape mixture into the bowl with the meat and sweet potatoes and stir to combine evenly. Store 4 days worth in an airtight container in the fridge and freeze the rest in portion sizes suitable for 4 days of food for convenient unthawing/storing the proper amount in the fridge.
